Default Heater Core Reinstallation for a 69 Tips?

Well i got my boxes of goodies from NPD. So i'm going to tackle the heater core this weekend. I'm sure i can get it figured all out but i was wondering if any of u guys remembered the best steps of removing the old one and gettin the new one in. My dash is getting rather aged and i wanna remove only what i have to and do it right. So if any of u have some tips besides wats in the FAQ (diff. year mustang) Lemme know, anything helps. Thanks again.

I just did my 68 coupe (not sure of the difference) and it was a piece of cake. I only took the glovebox out for better access. Once the heater hoses are unhooked (I actually cut mine at the fire wall cause I was replacing them) it's a snap. I had to pull the heater box to get all the clamps off but that is very simple also. Good luck.

It's been a while, but it was not easy because I had to unbolt the dash structure to R&R the core. After that, things squeezed in and out carefully, take your time.

I'm in the beggining of this project, tryin to figure out what i have to remove to get that damn box outta there. Glovebox assembly is gone, trying to find every bracket holding that thing in. Do you HAVE to remove that dash section on the right? Cuz it seems like i may

Triple Post YAY. lol got the damn thing out. Couple screws were hidden on the firewall covered with some goop. But yeah this was a HORRIBLE PROJECT. Pull out my new cd player, dash pad, dash itself on righthand side, center console, glovebox, kick panel, lol and so much other **** just to get that damn thing out from underneath the dash. Maybe cuz my car is an AC car the heater box is like 5X bigger than others. But yeah, i even had to split the heater box in half while it was in the car to just get it to fit outta there. None the less its in there now, but i still have to put the whole dash back together 2morrow and figure out why the Fan switch is hooked up to the starter. phew.

When I replaced my Mercedes heater core, here's what I did: [&o]

I drained first the radiator, remove the heater hoses, then remove the interior. After thatIremoved first the heater corecover before the heater core itself. Then the reinstallation...Make sure your new heater core is the same. You'll have lesser problem if you'll buy the same unless your'e not satisfied with it. Then, transfer the foam insulation to the new heater core.Cover ends of the new heater core to prevent debit from entering it.You may want to bend the tubes of the new Heater core to make it easier to install. Done! Proper maintenance and regular checkup is also necessary.

Easier said than done, i had to take a picture from when i was doing this. Had to rip out all that, still had to seperate the heater core box in half so it would barley slip out from behind the dash. BTW my car was originally AC, so my heaterbox is HUGE with that AC condensor in there, hell my glove box is a pointless size as well. But yeah, its all done now lol.
