1970 engine options, 460?

Default 1970 engine options, 460?

Hello: Im new to mustangs, so lots of ?
Can i bolt a 460 big block type motorinto a 1970 mach 1using the 351 motor mounts and trans mounts that came in the car?
If not, what to get?

Yes it will fit. No it won't bolt in with the 351 chassis and tranny mounts. You'll need conversion engine mounts and a C6 ( the 351 came with an FMX) tranny mount. It's a real tight fit.

Tight, as it massaging the shock towers will likely be necessary.

You'd be better off trying to find an FE series big-block or stroking the 351W.

if you get a man o war block from world you can have a 460 small block less work same power

I think you could use engine motor mounts from a 427, 428, or429,defenitely from 460.
Try a local junkyard, look for an old lincoln.

429/460 is the same dimensions and honestly a 429 is a better motor - shorter stroke big blocks kick ***

I have a 1970 429 in my 67. The FMX crossmember is the same as the C6 and a standard C6 mount will fit. I have Upper motor mount from a 70 Torino but the lowers are custom made. The headers also are custom made. I bought both from Peiorge.

and real pain to install! each tube is equal length so they run all over under there...
