Default 428 Shock Tower braces

I'm putting together my '69 "R" which the previous owner removed the 428 and replaced it with a 351C. In replacing the engine, he cut the lower shock tower braces. I found a replacement 428 engine but can not locate the braces that he cut out.

Question: Do I really need the braces and if so, where can I go to get a hold of a pair?

No. The braces I'm looking for are roughly 1/4" thick that wrap around the lower part of the shock tower

My 69 428 mach had a 1/4 ich thing around the shock tower, I have no idea what or where though.

The brace may also be called a plate. It is my understanding that this was added to the shock towers to help reduce twisting of the lower shock tower and to prevent cracking. This 1/4" plate is not on the after market towers and I haven't been able to find anyone that sells them.
