Turbo
Has anyone here ran their turbos through their exhaust? They did it on a new corvette the other day on Horsepower TV I believe. I was just wondering if anyone has done that to their mustang and if it would be a good thing to do to my 65'.

RE: Turbo
all turbos are powered from the exhaust - but i saw what you are talking about. they mounted the turbos near the back of the car. they said it didnt create any extra turbo lag, and i would think it would help move some more weight to the rear of the car.

my current project is a big single turbo set up. for the most part you have to custom build the entire project. i started with an sn95 single turbo kit....but there is no reason you couldnt do a twin set up. you will have to hack up your inner fenders, relocate the battery, and modify the lower apron and gravel sheild...but it will all be worth it. my decisions to do a single vs twin was based on: was price ( #1) and ease of installation (#2) power curve (#3)
small twin set ups usually (not always! so no flaming!) hit hard and build boost down low. i didnt want my power down there...i was looking more for mid to high end. big boost down lowmakes too much hp/torque which will destroy most transmissions. allowing the boost to come on gradually is easier on transmissions and drive line. my intention is to use the engines own torque to get it off the line fast and then have the mid to high power from the turbo do its magic then.
so far this project has been 18 months in the making, way to much cash , and a lot of late nights wrenching and researching. but its still a better hobby/ obsession than GOLF!!

RE: Turbo
Do you have pics of your turbo set up and even if you put the turbos down on the bottom of the car do you still have to hack up all of that stuff? By the bottom of the car I mean that youcan replace your mufflers with them if you don't have room under the hood.
