Default original tooling dash or not ?

Hi all,

my dash i spretty rough hanging there. So I'd love to replace it.
Tried to bent fix and youdontknowwhat, but no. seems replacement is needed.

I saw offers for original tooling dahspads for around 200$,
as well there are offers for repros from 120-140$
(calmustang.com)

does anyone have experience with those repro dashes ? how are they ? do they fit or is it just a waste of money.
I probably have to pay 100$ for shipping alone (europe)

I installed a repro in my 68 I use to have and it fit just fine. The Ford tooling parts are made from exact mouldings that Ford use to use while the repros are notcopies ofmoulds that Ford use to use. A repro may have minor issues with holes not lining up as well as an original tooling part but its minor and probably not worth the extra money.

I've never had a problem with a repro dash (three different times).

[EDIT] I just purchased one from Cal Mustang a month or two ago, and while I haven't installed it yet, it appears to be of good quality and color ('65 blue).

I recently got a repro dash for my 71, and it fit perfect. One change was different, instead of tapped holes( 1/8sheet metal screws used)in the metal to screw it on, it just had 1/4 holes. I had to buy some small clip type nuts to secure it. -Jon

good to know.

now that you mention it. The dash I have at the moment seems improperly fit. basically wood screws that go through the dashpad into bare metal.
Sure as hell they won't hold it up properly.
From this or maybe just sun every part of the dash that is not screwed (everything from about an inch away from scres) stands off. Away from the metal it's sitting on.

What's the appropriate way to fix a dash onto the metal carrier ?

and does it have to fixed near the weatherstrip on windshield ? or does it just lie there ?

1964 or 1965 pictures of this or whatever is the same would be great help
