Default HELP!! Starters are getting chewed up!

Has this happend to anybody else and how do I fix it? I started the car one morning and It sounded like I had rocks banging inside my engine compartment. I shut the engine off and tried to start the car again. The starter wouldn't work after that. So I pulled the starter and it was all messed up. The gear had alot of grinding marks on it and missing teeth. This thing got chewed alive by the fly wheel. I got a new starter and installed it. I then started the engine and the same thing! Clank, Clank, Clank!!! I pulled the starter again and it looks like this one is getting messed up too. Does anybody know what it is? Do I need to replace the fly wheel?

Just a guess, I would look at the fly wheel. Where do you get the starter? Maybe you got a bad starter. Do you have a auto or a stick?

Either some teeth are broken off the flywheel or the starter needs some shims or shims removed.

Pep boys sell junk. Goto a starter shop.
