Default How Much ????

Well, i just bought a 1966 mustang a couple of weeks ago. I'm about to put it on a dyno but before i do that i want your suggestions. How much horsepoer do you think im producing. I have a 302 bored out 30 over with hooker headers, a flowmaster exhaust kit, edelbrock performer intake manifold, 650 edelbrock carb and a mild cam. After i get it dynoed, i will tell you how much horsepower i have and see if you were close to it. Thanks

I agree with Brandon. You may be able to get 250 out ofit tops if the conditions are right at the dyno.

Since you'll be putting it on a chassis dyno, I'm guessing you'll see somewhere in the neighborhood of 170 hp to the ground (assuming an auto tranny).

yeah going to the rear wheels takes alot away, expecially if its a 40 year old automatic. what are the cam specs? compression ratio? im thinking if its around .475 lift your probably 250-275 at the flywheel if its not wore out (and depending on the cam and compression ratio). im not sure what you loose with that drivetrain. i'll take a stab and say 175-200 to the ground.

this should be interesting.

Yeah you guys are probably right. The motor is brand new and only has about 150 miles on it so i guess well see.I will post the results when i get them. If anyone else wants to put there .02 cents in go ahead.

Im going to venture a guess....
With your setup I would say at the fly, you're probably seeing around 240-250hp....so subtract in the 15-20% power loss through your drivetrain, and you should be sitting on 185-200rwhp.

Please do let us know what the final #'s are!

I think you may be making a mistake putting it on a dyno with only 150 miles on the new engine. Mine was just rebuilt and the engine builder told me not to put it oh a dyno untill the engine was properly broke-in. I think he said at least 3,000 miles. Reason being they are going to rev it to the moon on the dyno. Another reason he mentioned is the engine won'tperform to it'sfull ability untill after it's broken-in. Maybe someone more knowledgable cancomment on this.
