Default Steering problem 66 GT

Hello folks. My cars steering range is limited. Meaning it does not turn enough in either direction. It is 66GT with a power steering box. Any ideas? New steering box or might it be the ram cylinder?

Thanks

How many turns lock to lock can you get when turning the steering wheel? Can you turn the same distance both ways?

it does turn an equal amount both ways. I would need to count the amount lock to lock though. I think it was 2 and 1/2 though.

How long has this been going on?
Any recent mods to the car? New tires and or rims? Suspension upgrades?

I have only had the car about a month. When I bought it the owner said he had put a new pitman arm in. Other than that it appears stock. Also the last 1/4 of a turn on each side it all slop. It doesn't move the wheel at all,

so you are saying the steering wheel turns, but you dont get the corresponding reaction from the wheels?

If yes, I'd suspect he put the wrong pitman arm on...

Yes the wheel turns its that the wheels don't turn far enough.

I'm thinking pitman arm also. its probably the cheapest way to go.
