Default shocks

ALright im pretty ew and am going to try replacing the shocks on my 71. I was wondering what shocks you might recomend and how hard / how much time it should take someone with very little experence. Ive got the auto manuel so i was thinking I would give it a shot. Ive got one blown shock and the other is missing some rubber on the front end raddles pretty bad.

KYB Gas-A-Just shocks are nice, especially for their price. Seem to be the most popular on here...

Yeah, KYB's are the best bang for the buck. Stay away from Monroe shocks. It will take you an hour or so to change all 4. It's really a pretty straight forward job if you have another set of hands to help you. Get your shocks, then come back and we will guide you through the procedure.

Thanks I was considering them they seemed to be a pretty good price and its good to know they are pretty recomened here. Guess its time to order them. I want to learn how to do almost everything on this car so I thought this would be a good starting place. Thanks for the advice.

Monroe Matics are a cheap shock that runs inconsistent from one shock to the next, and wear out long before other better shocks.

Afraid I have to disagree with Soaring on this one. I had a set of Monroe's on the fastback for years and they worked fine. I swapped them out when I did a complete front & rear suspension rebuild.

I went with KYB's all the way around, but given it to do over again, I think I would keep the KYB's up front because I really like the added stiffness up front and go with the Monroes again in the rear just to soften things up a bit.
