i've been thinking a little about putting a cold air intake assembly on my 289. i was looking on ebay and seen that i can use this kit, but im not sure if the "housing" will fit on my carb. what do you guys think?

Why is it you want to do this?
K&N makes a round filter for your air cleaner assembly.

They make single or dual snorkel types of air boxes and in all kinds of different heights. I was thinking of getting a single snorkel and running the pickup down just below the grille on the driver's side.

*edit* wait a minute.... if you had a dual quad setup and two of those were sticking straight up through the hood that might look cool

 

about the cold air intake, i'm sure it would work but I don't think it would look very good. Just get a nice K&N in my opinion

 

Cold airintakes are a good cheap way to increase horse power. But you have to be taking the air from outside the engine compartment not inside. Other wise you are sucking in hot air and it defeats the purpose.

has anyone used the k&n top filter thing that replaces the lid of an air cleaner? i was thinking of using one and blocking the normal air cleaner - with some very flexable weatherstripping and a hood scoop it would basically be a ram air setup

 

look for a 85gt mustang air cleaner they are dual snorkle and can be made to scop air from both sides of the car rather easily and add a k+n
