Default installing new shocks

I am planing on getting new shocks probobly kyb's. I am planing on doing the work myself. I wanted to know if the shock can come out through the top mount and would i need a spring compresser for this. Or does the entire spring have to come out. thanks

Jman it is an easy job even i did it!!! yeah the shocks can be just unbolted without needing spring compressors and pass through the top. As for the rear they were a problem for me bloody bolt was stripped so had to saw through the bottom shock bolt with a hacksaw pain in the ****

Yeah, these are not coil overs, so you don't need a spring compressor. It will help if you can get a 2nd set of hands. Even a kid. The shock will turn, so you either need someone to hold it while to take it loose, or do as I did and put a pipe wrench around it and have the handle rest against the inner fender.

Two bolts at the top, two bolts at the bottom . Jack the caruseingthe A-frame so to keep pressure on the spring, Im assuming your talking about the front. Out threw the top.

I just replace all four corners with KYB gas adjusts and it wasn't a hard job by all means. I did it myself and thought that it would be harder than it appeared to be. The KYB's are sweet and give a nice ride!!!!

I have a "like new" set of KYB's for front that I would sell to you very reasonably if interested.PM me if interested. I found an original pair restored so I will not need these. They worked very well. Probably put less than 50 miles on them.

koni FTW good enough for shelby good enough for me, plus alot of the opentrack racers like them. There are some new ones that are easy to adjust in situ made by spax but I don't know if they are any good and pricy. Plus Doetsch Shocks seem to be like koni but half the price

Very easy to do. You can handle it. Problems you run into are very small. I had a tough time with one of the shock tower caps, nothing that a little heat did'nt cure. While your at it depending if the car is show & go you can replace with chrome shock tower caps. Nice touch.
