Orange crap?

My 1st thought was rust. When we were restripping Thunder, my son told me he found some rust. It looked like rust, but was the seam sealer ford used. I confirmed this when I ground around the cowl lip at then engine comparment.

It's not very good sealer, and has gaps behind it. Perhaps that is what it is. Ours were solid blobs, maybe yours is similar stuff and has moisture behind it, causing it to run? In any case worth further investigation.

is not rust as in the way of rust metal u can see thats the run off of what ever is rustin under the rubber probably the attaching screws for the trim

EXACTLY what I was thinking. The adheasive used to hold the headliner insulation is orange. The weather stripping in that picture, which runs along the door frame, has a good bit of that orange adheasive on it when I pulled mine off.

Use some hot soapy water and watch it dissapear

That reminds me of the man who went to see his doctor because the palm of his hand was orange.

Looks like a rust stain from under the stainless probly from the screws. The other orange stuff I have seen in several non restored cars.Has yours been restored? I will lookin the morning (no lights in that area of my garage), I thinkone of mine hassomethingclose to this. I believe it is in the door area also.Well, crap, I can't stand it, I'll get my flashlight. Back in a minute.

Yeah that area was sand blasted and re-painted back when I had the whole car painted.
