There were no rear seat lap belt options nor was there any 3 point options on 65 Mustangs. You will have to manufacture your own. Smothers, I would like to see a picture of what you are talking about.
Sorry Soaring, but rear seat belts were a $14.78 option in 1965.[sm=bling.gif] While you are correct that you couldn't get three point belts, you could splurge the $25.40 for the DeLuxe Seat Blets, Front & Rear (Front Retractors). What a bargain, huh?
If rear seat belts was an option, then the mounting nut would be built into the floor somehow. Show us where you are getting your information. There is no such animal on a 65 Mustang. The only way to mount rear lap belts in a 65 is to manufacture your own mounting points. Drilling the holes and welding on support washers with nuts on each side would be the most reasonable way to accomplish this.

Soaring, I don't have mounting points for rears in my stang but the Mustang buyers guide 1964.5-1978, Bowling and Heasley, 200316 says the 65 had an optional seat belts (deluxe front and rear, front retractable) for $25.40 now the lack of mounts makes me question this infomation butI can cite the lit. for you!!

My source was the original print of "Mustang Does It!", IIRC, printed in 1979 but now in reprint. They have a factory list of options and prices. As for there not being holes in the floor, perhaps it was only drilled when the option was ordered so as to not hav unnecessary holes?

My book is at my office right now but I'll try to remember to scan the page in the morning.

OK, you guys nailed it. Good job. I guess because back then there were no cars that had rear seat belts, that the extra small amount of money was not necessary to spend on rear seat belts. At any rate, they were definitely an option. You guys ought to become detectives. You are able to root out the most hidden of all things on the internet.
