Default The Day the Music Died

Well, after about 9 months (off and on) of rebuilding on the engine, getting it back in the car, getting all the leaks, squeaks and ticks taken care of, I took it on it's first road trip. Man, it was sweet. About 150 miles down the road, I'm cruizing along and it's sounding good. I start hearing a pinging, sounds just like the fan is bumping the shroud. It's a pretty rough road I'm on, so I figure I didn't get the shroud bolted down tight enough and it's shifted. I pull over, get out and pop the hood and as I look down, I notice the sound's not coming from the fan, but from the engine. In about the length of time I have to say something like "oh dang", the "pings" become about three or four big "bangs" and it dies. [X(]

Tis a sad day at the house []

8week's ago my wife called me at work and asked me if i had ever seen green rain. i said "what?" she said "about 10 minutes ago it started raining harder and it turned green." I'm thinking green rain??? then it's like ooo s**t " what's the temp gage say?" "300" i yell "pull over now" she says" no, i need to get to the mall. i don't want to miss the sale at macy's and you don't need to yell at me." before i can say another thing she says " somethings wrong with the car. it's making a funny noise."please, baby, pull over."

to make a long story short. when i got to the car, the top tank of the cheap radiator popped and she drove about 15 more miles on the freeway. i now have a 4500.00 boat anchor

omg if the wife killed the car trying to get to a mall sale i think i would kill HER.

i had green rain once, a heater core hose popped and it sprayed up and into the car since the t-tops were off. my poor dad was in the passenger seat and got pelted with scalding hot sweet green antifreeze LOL

If the loud sounds were like the devil hmiself beating the inside of your engine to death it might be big-end rod bearings. Maybe the can gear came off.

Because of stories like this I will never let anyone who loves shopping drive my car.
