Dash replacement- windshield too?
Hi-
I have a new dashpad that I want to put in, but then I was wondering if it might be a good time to replace the cracked windshield since I have to remove that trim along the dashpad. I also have a headliner that I need to replace, that I think requires the windshield to be out ( or is that just the rear window??)
Anyway, the dash pad is not a big deal, but I have heard that the windshiled can be a little tricky with the seal.
Thoughts??

While I'm usually not in favor of while I'm at it projects, what you have suggested makes sense. It will be much easier to work on the dash pad with the windshield out. Also the "right" way to do the headliner is with the windshield and back glass out. As long as you have a helper and use a LOT of sealer R&R the glass is not too tough. While you have the glass out make sure there isn't any rust around the glass flanges.
Onthe DIY channel they showed replacing a headliner with the glass in. IMHO the "professional" did a crappy job.
Three cautions on the headliner
- keep the "bows" in the right order
- before you remove the bows mark the holes that they are in
- carefully warm the headliner before trying to install.

I think it wasn't until 68 or so that you could replace the headlining without taking our the front and rear glass. Now is the perfect time to replace it and the windshield. May as well do it right the first time.
