The structural rail that the radiator sits against. Mine has two drill holes and thats where the studs are. As for drilling through the hood get some paint on the tips of the studs, close the hood ontop of the studs to transfer the paint, now u know where to drill. Put some masking tape and get ur pilot hole going the tape helps keep the drill bit from walking.

There is a picture of my engine compartment in my photo album that shows one of my hood pins. I can take better pictures when I get home tonight if you would like.

The point where they are located is the most forward place to actually mount them, this is the stock location. I think the only thing in front of that is the plastic grill. Obviously, that wouldn't work.

That's your hood bumper to keep your hood from vibrating (rattling)

I just put pins on my 1970 - midnites approach is sound. Also before I mounted them Ialigned my hood the best I could before drilling holes. In the process of aligning my hood I tookthe stock hood latch off. I don't plan onputing it back now that I got the pins - or should I - what do you think?

palerider-

I would say the pins are there more for a safety thing than a primary hood hold down. It would probably be a good idea to put your stock hood latch back on.
