Interior Trim Paint
I removed the first door yesterday and removed the door panel. I then realised that the rest of the door on the interior is actually textured metal that looks as though it was already painted.
Anyway I scratched some of the black paint off and now you can see the original blue. I want to keep it black though so my question is whether there is a special paint for this or is it just a flat black paint?
Thanks

Are you positive it is black paint, or is it undercoating? I assume you are talking about the inside of the door where the window rolls down into and is behind the panel. If that is so, then there is no texturing there. That would have to be the rough black undercoating you are seeing.
Perhaps my description was a little off. The part of the door I am talking about it the metal that surrounds the insert panel, which includes the portion of the door right across from your shoulder when seated. It is the visible portion of the inside of the door. The texture covers all the inside of the door except the portion covered by the panel.
The car interior was originally blue but the PO had redone the interior to all black. He must have painted it then, and also a couple really cheap insert panels (black also).

OK, now I underatand. The part where you hang your shoulder and under arm out the window does indeed have a texture etched into the metal, so if you want to refurbish that metal piece, you need to use a chemical paint remover, then a thin coating of a self etching primer, then color.
Thanks Soaring, but is there a special paint?
It doesn't seem to be a golss paint or a flat, but somewhere in between. Is this something that is available throuh all the regular online parts suppliers and what is it called?
