rust or no rust
OK so i will be getting a garage to keep my stang in for a while. until i move out. my question is? if i do a tear down of my car so i can get it blasted and painted. there are a few parts of my car that i know are rusted i don't know how bad. my car is no rust bucket at all. but i am afraid that when it dose get blasted they will miss some thing and the rust will come back? so i am debating on getting it dipped or not. either way if all the rust gets removed and then primered will i be able to fix the parts that need to be fixed with out it rusting again? for example my rear frame were my shackles are, is a total mess.
o ya i live in oregon so it dose rain alot! [:@]

having it dipped.. you mean in an acid to remove the rust? i am always a bit scary the acid will not be completely cleaned afterwards which wil make rust problem worse at those spots.
i have been removing rust from parts with an acid and it certainly makes work easy... but at the moment you take the parts out of the acid metal is very vulnerable for rust.. after neutralizing the acid (rust shows up in seconds )i always gave it a quick sandblast and then rust didn't appear right away anymore and i am sure no left onchemicals will eat away the primer.

Blasting is the better way. When you do the acid bath there are always areas the acid can get that you cannot get, leaving the acid there to sit. If you have a well qualified professional doing the blasting I wouldn't worry about them missing anything.
ya my cowl is fine tho only parts on my car that i know of that are bad are the rear frame rails that are rusted and the rear fender flares have bondo on them.....!
would it be good idea to remove the rear frame rails before the ballasting or after?
