gas mileage?

this is taken straight out of the book Mustang: Forty Years:
Reguarding the 427 cobra....
"From any angle its aggressive lines and squat stance suggest the power it offers. The large filler cap covers a 42 gallon-gallon, competition size fuel cell. Gas mileage is never discussed

I don't need the mustang, I have a 67 fastback already. Granted, it isn't a Shelby, but then again I am not afraid to take it on the street and wring the **** out of it either. (Witness the current state of my engine as proof positive of that). That late model Shelby engine would be trick as hell in my fastback.

Now, where did I leave that sack o' money I had laying around?
