Default 1968 Mustang

My Mustang has been in our family since it was bought new for my mom in December of 1967. It has 107,000 on it and the engine has never been rebuilt. It has had the 2 barrel carb rebuilt once, which is why I am here. It was rebuilt 12 years ago. It is the Autolite C8ZF-G. Should I rebuild it again or should I swap it for something else? Should I go 4 barrel? I guess my main goal is to stay as original as possible. What is everyone's thoughts...

By the way...other useless stats:
It is a 289 V8 3 speed automatic. Meadowlark Yellow with black interior. I have my original hubcaps, but 14" Magnum 500's have been subbed in.

I agree. Keep it stock unless you want to get into all the performance upgrades. It's kind of contageous once you start upgrading performance parts......next thing you know your buying drag tires.

There were a bunch of left over 289's from the 67 model year, so 68's had either a 289 or a 302 in them. That is an Autolite 2100 carburetor which is a bullet proof carb. They can be overhauled several times, so my suggestion is to overhaul it again if it needs it. Keep that car original. Mag 500's are OK.

This car should be kept original. Ilike restomods too, but only when there is not enough of the car there to feasably be put backin an original state. Sounds like yours is all there. The quickest and most visualy impressive way to change the looks,is to simply change the wheels (which you have). When you want a hotrod, bolt them on, when not, bolt on the originals. As far as the carb, just rebuild the 2 barrell,I don't think the 4 barrel will make a hill of beans difference without futher mods.

The 4V will make some difference when passing and the secondaries are open, otherwise nothing.

Agree, original. You have an all original car, hard to come by..Rebuild the carb and clean the paint, go for a drive. If you want a restomod buy another car and do it up...

Thanks for all the suggestions. As money goes...a carb rebuild is probably my best bet. I did for get to mention that I do have shorty headers on it...and I went dual exhaust with an H-Pipe. I have my original manifolds and my old piping from my single exhaust outlet.

Keep it stock, or near stock...I can do that.

I'll post some pics of it soon.
