Had a Bad day...
So I Got the 67 out for the first time since November and drove her to work. decided I was gonna leave early and just cruise around and didn't even get out of the work parking lot and the oil pump shot craps.Shut the motor off immediatly before any dammage was done and coasted to a stop. Called AAA and got her towed home. I guess it was time with the 120,000 origianl miles. That 289 has never been opened up so I guess its gonna get refreshed and purty now. Just sucked though
Kinda sucks, but at the same time....itreally doesn't.
Clean it up and make it look better than new.
Prime time to redo the engine bay while your in there.
How's that front suspension and steering looking?

oil pumps arnt to hard to change, you just gotta remove the starter, might have to undo a lttle steering in the way, remove crossmember, and then undo the oil pan bolts, need new gaskets too BTW, might also have to remove harmonic balancer and pulley
THEN its no problem

Hey could have been worse. You may not have noticed the drop in pressure and blown the motor. Ask me how I know?
When I was young and naive I wondered about the ticing noise and why it turned into a banging noise and then why there was this one large bang. I found out.
This is a cautionary tail for all those high mileage engines out there. Change that pump AND get a hrdened shaft. Cheap insurance.
