spongy brakes
so i am running ssbc in the front, big drums in the rear. proportioning valve to the rear.dual master cylinder.i ran al the brake lines my self, double flared. i bled all the drakes and they are still very spongy. what can i check?
You don't have all the air out of the line. Did you bench bleed the dual MC when you put it in? If you did, then you just need to keep bleeding until all the air is out. I am assuming you don't have power brakes.
Did you install a new master cylinder? And if you did, did you bench bleed it? If you didn't there is probably alot of air in your system, even if you bled the brakes. If you didnt bench bleed the master cylinder then take it off, bench bleed it, and start the process over again.
If u didn't bench bleed it there is no need to take it off. You can leave it in the car, just buy a master cylinder bleeder kit from like Kragen auto parts or something, and do it right in the car. Just instead of it being in a vice, and you pushing down the rod, its bolted to your car, and you push down the brakes (alllll the way). So if this needs to be done, do it, then rebleed the lines once again and the brakes should be superb.
not a one man bleeder kit
its basically just two short lenghts of hose w/ some plastic 'needle' attachments and a bridge to hold the ends of the hose in the reservoir. You put the needle attachments in the hose and jam them into the front and rear ports, then run the hose up through the bridge clip and into the reservoir so the fluid leaves the MC and goes right back into the reservoir
should be a couple bucks max . I just put the SSBC f/r power setup on my 68 and they included this bench bleeding kit w/ it , plus I got an extra kit w/ the manifold hose kit from NPD for the power booster.

lol thats how i feel about mine...great additude to have with your breaks
. but i think i may end up taking mine to a brake shop and spend the money to have them do it the right way...i tried to bleed the master without taking it out of the car and lets just say it wasnt pretty. the brakes got a little better but theyre still a little soft. so ive given up, im doing my own paint so i thinki can afford to have someone do that for me. but ya, definately air in the master.
