Default Front Torque boxes??

Torque boxes??

I have three `67 Coupe Auto V8 Ponies. One is getting a complete restoration, which a question was brought to my attention....all of my Coupe have one Front Torque Box on the driver side....and none onthe passenger.

But the Restoration shop has to Fastback's that have the on both driver's and passenger sides.

Here's what I am talking about, are they both on fastbacks and not on coupes?????

Thanks for any help.
Tony

I thought that in 67 the coupes and fastbacks only had one and the verts had two. I could be wrong. Are you sure the fastbacks aren't 68's?

Yep, only the verts had two torque boxes in 67. However, torque boxes could be added. We have a good article in the FAQ that shows you how. Maybe that's what happened.

Thanks you all! I didn't even think about checking to see if they were `67 or `68...I just thought they would be the same between the years...I guess that was my FIRST mistake....THINKING! Atleast that is what my wife would say.

Thanks, I am going to check those years....cause I don't want to add something that isn't suppose to be there.

Thanks again,
Tony

Adding a torque box is a good thing. It adds strength to the body.

So, not that I am going to really get into showing her or anything, but you make a good point, but now it is just a matter of curiosity...you know what I mean?

thanks,
Tony

speaking of torque boxes and stiffening up chassis, i just replaced pretty much the whole frontend of my 66 coupe, and i was thinking about welding some gussets between the front frame rail and the rocker panels, anybody ever tried anything like this?

I can't remember who makes it, but there is a complete underbody
reinforcement kit. Front to back.....but once again I am sorry that I can't remember who make it, but I know it is out there.
