ENGINE SWAP
Hi. I havew a 67 mustang that came with a 200 6 cyl engine that i want to convert over to a 302 or 289. My question is what am i going to need to do this swap. I have the C4 trans off of the original 6 cyl. I also have a 302 sitting around from a 81 ford truck. Will the C4 be strong enough for the 302 or will i have to get a new transmission. If it will work what willI need to bolt them together?Torque converter? Bell housing? Or would it be easier just to find an engine and transmission that came together . I am up grading the rear end to a 9 inch and installing disk breaks in the front from CSRP i think. I am also quite sure that i dont have to upgrade anything else on the front suspension other than the springs. If i am wrong please correct me.
thanks
thanks
the C4 should handle the 302 no problem
if you have 4 lug wheels you'll want to change those too.
Yes correct on the springs and probably shocks too. Other upgrades depend on the condition of existing steering components, ball joints etc
there is lots of information on this topic in the FAQ section...it gets asked every week!
I suggest you look there first.
