It costs the same to build a 350 chev and a 302/351 ford when your using good parts. You can find the same deal for a ford as you have for a chev, keep looking, trust us..
I think that putting a Chevy engine in a Mustang is a bad idea, but, I will have to disagree with you about the cost of building a SB Chevy vs. SB Ford engine. Without really even researching this issue, I feel pretty safe in stating that if building both brands to roughly equivilant engines, the Chevy will be notabley cheaper. I would equate the cost of building a 351W more closely with a build of a big block Chevy than that of a small block Chevy.

If you look at the cost that each company charges for their new crate motors, you will see thata roughly equally equiped GM engine will sell for quite a bit less thanthe Ford.

However, even assuming I am right, the difference in price can in no way justify putting a GM engine in a Mustang, it just isin't right.

We just got through discussing this issue. Bowtie parts don't belong on Fords. I have owned a few Chevies in my time, and the strongest part of them was the 350 engine. I have nothing bad to say about the 350, but the rest of the car is crap. Body by Fisher....

What sort of Godless communist would consider such a swap???!!!!

Mind reeling..... body convulsing......world going dark

When I see Ford Hot-Rods with a Brand X powerplant, I don't give it a second look and I curse under my breath. Totally unecessary swap.

after ya go threw all the hassle of making the 350 fit...you could of proubly got a new 351 for the same price with out any hassle...allways a hassle when doing somthing like this..youmite haveto buy a custom oil pan...some custom motor mounts...then your drive line custom cut...by the time you pull all this off..let alone all the guess work to make sure linkage wont hit..and motor will fit..then having to buy custom headers that will fit....shock towers mite be a issue...going to cost a bundle..cheaper i bet to go with ford at this point

if you want a unusual motor for your stang..and dont care about money...put in a odd ball ford motor...like i old 352..or 427 sideoiler..even a 289 hi-po or 390...plentyof choices if you want somthing dif..lol...i know a guy who put a 318 dodge in a camaro..what a hunk of junk..all the scabbin that had to be done...it was rediculous..lol..oil pan was exposed...cause on dodge it was backwords...first rock he hit is going to blast a hole in it..lol..no protection...wasnt built for that motor..lol

If your ready to get a cold shoulder from the Mustang world(Ford world for that matter) then go ahead and do it. Dont even think of trying to sale it, resale value will be shot. Chevys go in Chevys, the whole street rod scene is a little different but I dont like it still. As far as Mustangs the closest a 350 should be is in the other lane. But then again thats just my thoughts and its your car and you have the right to do whatever you want to it.

I own a 67 mustang coupe with and 200 L6 in it. Iv been looking for more power and came across a good deal on a chevy camaro with a worked over 350ciand a 350 turbo trans in it. So im thinking of rippin out my 6 and droping the350 and trans in my stang...Now, getting past all the hard feelings about putting a chevy in a ford, what kind of problems anI gona run intoBESIDES mounts, drive shaft, front springs and critisism from the world?I think its a cool idea consideringI dont see to many 67 stangs with 350's in them, and its not like im taking it to shows any time soon. So let me know what you think and what problems ill have. Thanks.
Two posts total, and they both have to do with the Chevy into Mustang swap. Hmmmm

What's so wrong with leaving that worked-over Chevy powertrain in the Camaro and driving that while you're doing a careful job on a 289/302/5.0 swap into the Mustang? If the Camaro is in good enough shape overall to consider buying, you shouldn't have any problems unloading it later.

If it's being sold mainly on the basis of the engine mods, I'd walk the other way and not look back. Descriptions like "good deal" and "worked over" (and what sounds like "sight unseen") have a way of not always adding up to "no problems".

What you need to do is search the Philly junkyards. My son knows a guy named Claudio at one of those places, and that was my link to a throttle-body injected motor out of a Mercury when my daughter's Mustang needed a transplant.

You probably won't make the same power out of the smaller Ford motors that the 350 may be putting out, at least not initially. If nothing else, the iron heads on most of the little Fords don't flow as well as the 2.02"/1.60" SBC pieces. But that can be fixed down the road (and over a weekend) with something like AFR 185s and a warmer cam if all your mod money hasn't been spent solving a laundry list of cross-marque swap details/problems.
