Coil over front suspension recommendations
I am looking into doing the coil over conversion in my 68 and would like to get some feedback on different products. I know there is TCP, RRS, Fat Man and Global West but have any of you used these and which one do you feel is the best. I am looking more at TCP and Global West and more so to GW due to the fact they have more shock travel. Opinions and reviews?
why not just buy the forged spindles from tcp, opentracker control arms and steering rebuild kit, and ssbc or wilwood brakes, koni shocks, and opentracker springs...mustang 2 fronts have a rep for riding hard plus i mean your not gaining any performance as far as handling i mean i have manual steering with performance suspension parts (not kits or grab a trak)on all but 1 car i own and thats my 2000 durango but then again i love manual steering with my driving style because i like to really beat the car, you bought your mustang cause you wanted a mustang, well it was good enough for them in 68 its still a good reliable suspension now...dont believe the adds imo coil over = waste of time and money....

I've been looking at the same thing and the Global West mounts their top shock/spring under the tower with the load placed on the same spot as stock springs. The Total Control mounts the top mount on top of the tower and bolts it through the metal and had to add a reinforcing ring to prevent pushing the bolts through the top of the tower. When I called tham just last week and asked about this the guy tried to tell me that the bolts were not under the stress of the weight of the front of the car! Scratch them.
The Global-West also has a fixed length upper-arm which helps to maintain proper geometry. Their strut rod is also a design I prefer.
I bought one of their kits when they first began offering them and it was a modification to your existing upper arm with the 15 degree wedge, this was befere the tubluar arm was offered. It cost around $350.00 back then.
They are about to introduce a new complete kit for 65/66 cars and I plan to buy one as soon as I can.
I've given-up on the Mustang II conversion due to the Ackerman thing and also Heidts calling the relationship between the upper-lower arm an "unequal parralelogram" when in fact it is a trapaziod. Pretty basic stuff and if you don't know the difference in THAT basic a geometry fact I'm not too sure I want you building MY front suspension!!
Global-West is my recommendation.
i agree with mikethebike. i heard real good things about global west and if i had the funds that would definately be the setup i'd go with. Car Craft actually installed global west on there 67 mustang a couple of issues ago.
i dont know about the coilover, but i have TCP's upper and lower control arms and strut rods. I have nothing but positive feedback on them. Car handles great, and everything went in like a dream.
i wouldnt use anything from fat man fab unless you plan on a show car that never gets drove. i like the gb one over tcp mostly since it has a thick mount top and buttom of the sturt tower tcp has a big top plate buttom is to thin for my liking. id use gb or rss they are more money but you dont have a upper control arm and it comes with brakes npd sell there parts.

Has anyone installed the Global West system? I am pretty sure I want to go that way but would love to hear some road reviews.
