back up lights
Well, my back up lights aren't working. That should be the last piece to the puzzle to get it inspected. I checked the bulbs, and they look okay (the coil is not broken like in a regular light bulb). What else should I check? All of the other lights work, so I'm a little confused. Underneath the car, the connector/wires going to the pigtail are covered in some kind of grimy dirt, that might be it? Any help is appreciated, thanks
Do you have a manual transmission with switch mounted to top of tranny? If so, does the linkage make contact with the backup light switch when you put it in reverse? Check the voltage at the backup light itself to see if you are getting any juice...try this first...keep us informed...
BTW...backup lights not needed to pass inspection in the the Great State of Texas...but back license plate light is needed...

If you have an auto tranny, I think the backup light switch is near the shifter (?)...Maybe check it out to see if it is good...maybe someone else with an automatic can chime in on this..

Did the 66 come with a license plate light? I didn't think I saw one back there. Crap, I don't want to mount that lol

On the side of your trans there is a round, white plastic part that has the back-up light switch and the nutural safety switch on it. You mghit have to replace the whole part or just remove it from the trans and test it out of the car to se if its the problem..
