Default double pumper carbs

i have the chance to pick up a freshly rebuilt 650 holley double pumper carb. what are the pros and cons of this carb? it doesnt have vaccuum secondaries so the other 2 barrels are mechanical. and it has no choke? someone wanna tell me something about these carbs? i searched but i never find anything from our search function[]

with your 351C 4bbl heads, you could prolly get away with it. basically, when you step on the gas two accellerator pumps are squirting and both barrels are opening right from the start. this takes away that "4 barrels kicking in" feeling when you hammer down, but instead its ALL there right from the start. IMO its overkill on smaller motors (my 12:1 302 didnt like a 650 DP) but with your extra cubes and those HUGE heads i think it would prolly be ok. if anything, ya may end up going one size smaller in the jets if it feels like its taking away some of your pep. oh yeah, you can add a mechanical or electric choke to it just like on any other holley

Actually, the 4 barrel doesn't burn any more gas than a two barrel until you open the secondaries. You may even see an improvement in gas mileage if you never open the secondaries. But, who in their right friggin mind would never open up the secondaries and feel and hear the roar of a Mustang V8 at WOP?

Wow! Gas has really gone up in Europe since I was there in 2004. It was about 0.98 euro a liter then.

Holley DPs also work better on manual transmission cars.
