Default Export brace / Monte carlo bar??

I want to add a monte carlo bar and wanted to know if straight or curve is better? I like the look of the curve better but dont know if the straight one offers a better ride?

Also, is this an export brace i have?Ihvae been thinking it was until i saw some comments on similar ones to get upgarded??

nope that pic is of normal factory bracing, export brace was for mustang for export called T5 it is one piece and much heavier steel. The straight bar is stronger but may give clearence probs on stock air cleaner and after market dizzy's and with both fitted i think u will not notice it on a daily driver

No, you don't have an export brace. The export brace is a one piece of metal that goes from shock tower to cowl then to the other shock tower. (See pic) The curved monte carlo bar allows you access to the distributor much easier than the straight one, and allows you to use the oval air cleaner. (see pic)

So does the export and montebar make that much of a difference?

From what I've read, the monte/export combo make a big diffrence. I guess it really stiffens up the front end. I still got my stuff layin around in the garage

I noticed a difference. The curves I used to be able to take at 40 while they are marked at 30, I can now take at 50. So yes, it stiffens up the front and makes the handling better. It is the cheapest upgrade you can make to help your front end act right.

Thanks for the info, goes to show you, what looks like a brace to some of us...isn't, .

how difficult is it to install? the "fun to fit" comment raises ????.

..agian, I read that very few people get it to fit "right in" on the first time. If your like me, ( doesn't look like it fits) you have to jack your car up for 2 days or so and let the shock towers settle back down to normal. Then you should be able to slip it back in. Chech the Faq's, there a page all about it.
