Default engine tick

I have a 302 with a c4 the engine makes a noise it seams to be a constantfrom top end to bottom. It kind of sounds like a lifter or rocker but they are tight and all working. It is not as loud when it is in reverse. I am getting ready for a cleveland swap soon. But I would like to drive the car till then. Thanks for any input. Jason

am going with a cleveland my #1 But the windsor is great also especiallyfor big smokey burnouts. Was going to do a f.i. windsor swap but i couldnt pass up a cleveland. I put one in my old 65. The headman 351 swap headers fit real nice. tucked up to the floor nice and clean. you had to get real low to see them. The steering box fit perfectly in the header. So if havent gotten any I recommend these........

I had the same thing in my Old 79 F100 it had a 302 with a tapping lifter.. I didnt know **** about motors back then and just ran it the way it was.. Im sure if you replace the lifters it would probably go away..

no u dont need to replace em. just tighten down the rockers....find tdc and the lash....just manually crank the engine over and watch as the rockers move up and down

Dont ever replace lifters without replacing the cam as well. Each lifter mates with its lobe during break in the 2 surfaces wear to identical surfaces and wear out together over time.If a new surface on one side enters the picture,it will wear the smooth side out quickly without itself gettting smooth.

It has roller rocker and lifters in it. I dont know if theat makes a difference or not. The engine runs like a beast. Just The ticking I Cant Get It Out Of My Head. Is there any possibility it is an exhaust leak their are some ratty old headers on this pig........I am just not very good when it comes to internal engine stuff I am more b&p guy
