Default Steering creaking sound

Im trying to track down a creaking sound from the steering systems. Sometimes its not there but after a while it shows up. I can feel it in the floor pans and hear it, its pretty loud. It feels like something binds and then slips about once or twice per degree of steering so a quick crank produces a continuous creaking sound. I checked ball joints and ball stud to drag link also idler arm. The idler arm bushing was binding on stud for that bracket that hooks to the frame. I fixed that (maybe) but I still have the issue.

I guess I'm hoping someone will recognize that noise and tell me what was causing it.

Any ideas

P.S its really hard to pin point the sound as the drag link "conducts" and sends the sound to all parts of the steering system. Inside the car it sounds like the bushing for the steering shaft. under the car it sounds like the ball stud to drag link.......no the tie rod end......no i mean the idler arm ..... sounds like everything is making that noise but im pretty sure its just one item.

Check the spring insulators at the top of the springs were the springs contact the shock tower. Spray them with WD or something and hope the noise goes away.
If you can't find it turn the stereo up really loud and wait for whatever it is to break.[sm=smiley8.gif]
