Distributor won round two...
OK. I havetore everything off this thing including the whole rotor housing and everything inside, all that is left if the shaft and shaft housing. It barely moves so I have no choice but to drop the oil pan to see WTF is going on. I was putting off doing this because it is a PITA. Do I have to buy another oil pan gasket even though I just put a new rubber one on last time I dropped it over the winter? Thanks

I hope that with the oil pan off you will be able to get some access to the distributor. If you like I can take some pictures of my 351, the pan is not bolted yet. It should give you an idea of what you will be up against.
Have you considered hooking an engine hoist up to what is left of your distributor shaft and trying to pull it out that way?
You could put some pressure on it and bounce the front of your car a little. It might be worth a try before you drop the pan and try to drive that pos out.
I don't have an engine lift. I bent my 1/2" prybar trying to pry it out. Here's what I have left to work with. I am ready to push the car to the end of my driveway and let it roll down the big hill I live on. Worst part is I lost all my markings I had on it to show me how the new one has to line up. I have it at TDC though on the 1st cylinder compression... {I think} Can I reuse my rubber oil pan gasket I just put on it? Pic's of what round three is going to look like would be great, thanks.
they claim the rubber gaskets are reuseable but I have them on my valve covers and have not been able to reuse them yet i pulled one side to fix a ticking rocker and when I tried reusing the gasket it leaked so I got a new set and it sealed. Long story short you can try it but I dout it will work.
Sorry, the pictures wont be as much help as I thought, probably no help at all, but I will send one anyway.
If it comes down to pulling your pan, it looks to me that the best hope of getting this thing out is to remove the oil pump, and find a piece of round bar that will fit into the oil pump drive shaft hole, and using a bottle jack to slowly press the distributor out.Make sure that you use a solid piece of steel, and remember to get the oil pump drive shaft out.
As far as I can tell, the only access that pulling the pan is going to provide, is straight up the oil pump drive shaft, the distributor is otherwise inaccesable.
I think I would exhaust all possibility of pulling this thing out of the top before trying to push the dist. out through the bottom. Will anyone lend you an engine hoist?

The picture is dismal,,, have you considered a crankshafttriggered ignition?
Sorry,, I know I shouldn't make light of you situation,,,
But if there were some way to get an even "pull" on what is left, there still might be a chance of getting that miserable pos out through the top.
maybe you could drill a 3/8 hole through the center and hook a chain to each side, and give it a pull with a hoist or come-along or somthing.
