It probably will not break untill you get on it the first time, after that, all bets are off.

Ford went to the 8" for the V8 which had ~200 net hp, less than 150 to the wheels. They used the 9" for the hipo which had <200 hp to the wheels. Something to think about, especially if you ever need to punch it to get out of the way of traffic. I know the "common wisdom" is the 8" will handle up to 400 hp. I'm just pointing out that Ford didn't think so.....

lol only 400hp....thats not right i got a buddy that works in a muscle car shop and they put 8"in 1000-1300 hp cars. IM thinking once i get up about 1k-1.2k more im gonna take it to him and he said he could convert to 5lug and get me an 8-9" rear for that much and that the labor price included.

should i go that route?

no a ford 8.0" would not hold 1500 hp, im trying to bust mine open and my car has less than 300 hp. any racer would put a 9" in and not worry about it.

It is not clear what route you want to take. If you believe yourbuddy can build an 8" to take 1300 hp you should trust him exclusively. What was the purpose of your original post?
