Default Leaky Power Steering Cylinder

My 66 Fastback also has a very leaky power steering cylinder (think that is what it is called, the part that actually assists the steering down in the suspension). Anyway, I have a buddy who says I can get a rebuild kit for it and it would be cheap but I haven't found one yet. Has anyone done this or know a kit available? I don't really want to spend the $$$ on a new cylinder but will if I have to....
Thanks!

Check National Parts Depot...I think they have an website but no online store. Give them a call. Fairly easy to do...seals and a wiper are in the kit. Also, since you will have the cylinder off the car, buy a rebuild kit for the stud end too. It is basically just a rubber seal that slides over the stud. You can also try www.mustangsunlimited.com good online store.

Awesome, thanks for the quick reply. I'll check this out and get it on order - while the engine is still on the stand and I can get at it easily!

Sorry, I forgot to get back to you dozierstang- i checked around and got the kit for about $30 for everything, including new boots for both ends. I actually called Dallas Mustang (been dealing with them for years) and they knew exactly what I needed.
Thanks!

If you haven't finished the rebuild yet, you might want to spend some quality time on this page.

Also check the shaft to see if it's bent. If it is, buy a whole new unit.

I have no reason to believe anything is bent, just looking to stop the thing from leaking. I'm rebuilding the engine, already had a complete tranny rework, want a dry garage floor <grin>. That page is awesome, thanks a bunch. Very usefule info!

I need to do the same thing to mine.. It just barely leaks, but its enough over time to throw thefluid everywhere,, Its a really cheap and easy rebuild..
