rear end gear makers
hey guys, im trying to decide who to buy gears from, i was looking at 4.11s (1/8 mile track) from richmond: http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...0002_744484_-1
they are 30 bux cheaper than the currie enterprises ones: http://www.currieenterprises.com/ces...e.aspx?id=1173
are the currie ones worth 30 bux more?
Thanks!

Currie makes high quality equipment. But I have heard great things about Richmond as well. I wouldn't be afraid to buy a Richmond gear unless you plan on doing nothing but hard racing.
DTS (Drive Train Specialists) also have good products. I have gotten gears from them and they stand up really well.
If your not strictly racing the car, 4.11's are too much. I would go with either 3.55's or 3.80's at most. Highway driving with 4.11's will be a bear.

just stay away from motives..... and yeah 4.11's your gonna be unhappy if this is for your car since you drive it around. i dunno what ratio you have stock but a 3.55 or 3.73 is gonna make you pretty happy and not kill your rpms driving down the road. (remember you DO like to go over 100 once in a while LOL)
yeah its got stock rear end gears in it (2.73s or 3.00s) but the car is still quick off the line, but i think the stock hiughway gears are killin da mudda trucka! plus i want blazzing acceleration!

im putting a currie 9 plus crate rear end in the 69 with a locker and 3.89 gears but im running a 2.16 first gear in my toploader so i have a really obscenely tall first gear to handle the output on my 427 so it wont have blazing acceleration but it will be good for a road course/back country road oriented carand according to currie will top out at 165 but i plan on having 3.50 and 3.23 gears to change in there if i want i mean my speedo goes to 180

i've heard ALOT of people in the 05+ section having whining problems with the 8.8 motives, and some of the ford racing gears (the ones that are made by motive). apparantly alot of places dont even wanna install those gears because they dont want to deal with the comebacks. maybe this is just a problem with the new 8.8's but i dunno.
i always hear 50/50 comments on motive i think it just depends on the day of the week your gears were made, but i have heard that about 05+ 8.8 and aftermarket gears, i would love to stick one of those i believe moser makes a 9 inch rear end for the 05+ mmmmmm can someone say bomb proof 05
