Default export brace install question

Ok I have a 66 gt coupe, I have upgraded the suspentionbigger front swaybar, rear swaybar, shocks, and a montecarlo bar. My brother removed an export brace off of his 67 and instaled a chrome one so I took his old black one. my question is that when I go to bolt it up it wont fit, it seems to be too wide for the shock towers by about an inch or so. I was wondering if the 67's were wider or if my shock towers are sagging, what has got me baffled is that the montecarlobar fit fine. any help would be appreciated thanks

pics would help to see just how far off it is......

if it was on his car for a while it may have tweaked things. In terms of fitment tho, export braces are all the same from 65-70

+1 with what eZ said. Leave it on stands overnight. The engine bay tends to sink in after 40 years of those cheap braces they had on it. Take the Monte Carlo bar off first so it won't be held.

I need to install mine as well. Where exactly on the frame is the best place to set the jacks?

disagree with sxs about the frame rails, put the axle stands, with wood protection blocks, under the lower arms that removes the weight from the suspension worked for me a treat i believe that what was recommended by the FAQ's.

You can use the weight from the suspension in your favor to help with the widening of the engine bay. Otherwise it's the same as having the car on all four tires. IMO. But to each his won.
