What to do with my engine??

What to do with my engine??
I have a 67 convertible which is in mostly mint shape. The only odd thing with it is that the original 289 was swapped with a 1974 LTD 351w. It still has the C4. This summer I've gotten a ticking when under load which I think is one of the heads. The ticking gets worse the more I drive. I'm also getting white smoke now when starting. I'm looking into getting it done right so I can go back to enjoying and not worring. What should I do?

I guess that would depend on how much money you are willing to sink into it. The 351 will be better for building a stronger runner, but if originality is what you are after, then the 289 would be your choice. I like originality, so my choice would be the 289, but rebuild it to include flat top pistons, 4V, etc.....

I like the 289 but they can be hard to find. I would go with a 302. They are almost the same motor. If you want to you could also go with a 5.0. That would be nice. Just find one in a junkyard.

I have a 67 coupe with a 351 Cleveland and it and the M are very similar. I have foudn out that the horsepower on those have two settings stock and wild and thats about it. There are very few after market parts for it but it will deffinatly be a power house. I do have to say that one of the aftermarket parts are a set of heads that will breathe a big block to 7500 WHich is quit a feat for a small block. On the other hand my friend has a rebuilt windsor in his 67 and it is a greta runner and will still plant you firmly to the back of your seat. but Its all up to what you are looking for personally i like the big small block with the 351M but good luc k with what ever you do
