Puller = behind raddiator
Pusher = in front of radiator

I have my doubts that there is enough room in front of the radiator on a Mustang, but there might be, someone here will know!

If you don't have an air conditioner you could put a pusher in front of the radiator, but Why do that? I had remembered that a pusher is not as efficient as a puller but I didn't remember by how much, so I researched and found this statement from a radiator fan company.

"A puller fan is more efficient. A pusher fan is generally only 80% as efficient as a puller fan."

If your not having overheating issues I'd just use the electric fan as a puller. That way you can take off the mechanical fan and add an extra HP or two.

I have heard that stock non-clutch fans can consume as much as 15 HP, with at least 7 HP being typical, even for "flex fans".

If going to an electric, I would ditch the mechanical fan as well.

Most aftermarket electrical fans come with a cheesy thermostat "sensor" that goes through the radiator core, I dont like this much, I have always put a sensor into the thermostat housing and used a relay to swithch the fan on and off. This makes for a cleaner, more reliable,and more professional install.

so just to be clear a puller is behind the radiator such as inside the engine bay right? not in the front near the grill?

Yep that's correct, a "puller" pulls the air through the radiator into the engine compartment and a "pusher" pushes the air through the radiator, into the engine compartment.

If you want to save a few coins, consider going to the junk yard and robbing one off another car. Here is a good article about which cars to rob.
