Well if you want to build a jenk one... Tap any O2 sensor into your exhaust, then run a DC voltmeter into your cab. Mount the meter somewhere, then run the hot to the sensor wire and then run the black to the sensor ground (Can be either sensor, or the exhaust....since that is what the sensor grounds to.

If it is too rich, the reading will be above .45 volts, and too lean will be below .45 volts

The band or range of the sensors are .1-.9 volts I believe.

No problem at all!

yes sir gmata, the setup you are speaking about is exactly what i was talking about. Tapping into the exhuast welding in the ports for the O2 and then running the wires into the cabin for an aftermarket a/f ratio gauge

no, i believe it is pretty smart i was actually thinking about this today since i got the summit magazine today and i was checking it out. I would install the sensor and then hook it up to something like an Autometer Air/Fuel Ratio Meter!
Don't waste your time a money on an a/f meter............just a stupid light show and no information

You'd have to drill your exhaust and then weld on a ring with threads
Yep,, he will have to drill out the exhaust, weld on a bung, and stick the sensor in your bung hole.

sorry,,, I couldn't help it...

That might be kinda cool.

I was going to do it I even bought a $40 gauge..... i just realized i didn't want to drill a hole in my exhaust and stuff. I really want one, because i know im running rich as hell, and wanted to see exactly where.

It's more sophisticated than reading your plugs and would allow you to tune your carb better.

If you boughtthe gauge, I woudn't be turned away from the thought of drilling into your exhaust...
It's basically one hole you need to drill, get a nut, or other threaded female fastener and a few moments of welding to the outside of the pipe and presto! Not hard a tall.

Just find any O2 sensor with any amount of wires (Since you only need one)

The sensor does have a limited life depending on how clean the exhaust gas is.
Yea, if you burn a lot of oil, you may find yourself changing it every 50,000 miles!
