Get a job, or a couple of them. I'm in college too, and have 3 cars. I work about 4 jobs though.

Everybody seems to be talking about the big picture-school etc. Normally I would say don't sell, but 14.5k seems like a good deal for that car. It may be a mach one, but its not all original (302ho).What is the true value of the car (objectively) w/o the original engine (any other non-original stuff)? To me it seems like a good offer. You could still buy another one for under 10k.....if you are patient/lucky another mach that needs work and still have some money left for school. You could certainly find a decent mustang for under 10k. And by the way, student loans are the way to go anyway. Don't sell your carfor school when the gov. will loan you the money.I would consider selling the car for that money. Also depends how much you have into it as well.

Good luck.

As a fellow 1969 Mach 1 owner in California, I say if at all possible, keep it. I have had more people come up to me and say "I used to have one of those and I kick myself for selling it". But, then again, I don't have to pay your bills, so it's easy for me to say that. Any chance you can park it for a couple of years somewhere until you get your finances under control?

+1 on the student loan idea. Interest on federal student loans is tax deductible!

Good luck on whatever you decide!

... if selling the car is a financial necessity to fund your education then I say go for it...
+1 million

After all, with that college education you should be able to afford anything you want later on.

I made the mistake of buying a classic Alfa Romeo while still in school. I took out extra student loans to buy it. The car didn't end up being as nice as I thought it was going to be, and I sold it one year later at a loss. Since this "extra" student loan is consolidated with my others, I'll be making monthly payments on that car, which Inow don't even own,for another 25 years! Stupid decision...[&:]

Yea, but he owns his car. He knows it's awesome. He isn't paying for the car. I would be taking out student loans whether I owned a Mustang or not, so, IMO, it doesn't change anything.

Also, that Mach 1 would catch at least25 grand where I live. Judging from your sig, it could net that easy.

Thanks for all the replies, gives me a little boost in confidence of keeping it. And for all who asked my freinds are in a band known as Valiant, and later down the road, theres no doubt in where they are going. But yeah, i guess its just gonna appreciate more and more as the years go on. Thanks again.

It's good to have nice friends, but I wouldn't always depend on them. You never know, one membermight get sick, move away, get arrested, get married-a million things can happen to break up the band.

Did you buy your mustang as an investment???? No.. I didn't think so. You knew how much it was worth. and you know how much it will be worth later in the future. So keep it, If not you'll go to sleep to the sound of your own cry's.
