Default Casting numbers

I have recently acquried a free what I believe is a 302. I looked on the net and found out where the casting numbers are supposed to be but it is not there. It is a ford block, and someone had written "88 Lincoln" on one of the valve covers. Its just the block, heads, timing gear, crank, rods, lifters, and oil pan. If youknow where any more numbers can be found please let me know. There is a set on the heads "T 20". Where the end of the block flares out there is a number FS1E. I looked this up and it would have been from a 91 T-bird. I think the motor is older than this though

What is the blocks casting number? There should be a casting number under the starter.

Yeah, great placement huh?

Take the starter off and see if there is a casting number on the block behind the starter.
On edit, JW posted about a microsecond before I did, Sorry for the repeat.

There is no starter on my block, it is basically just the block itself.

Then, as you look at the front of the block, look to the passenger (left) side of the block you should see a casting number on the lower part of the block.

While we are on the topic. I have an engine that says it was an "A" code where as mustangs are usually "Z" on the block. I know the engine has been in the car since the second owner. Some websites I visit says the "A" code was a generalized Ford while most said the "A" code was from a Galaxie. Any other insights?
