Replacing vent window weatherstrip
Hi All,
Just found this forum, very cool! I have a '67 fastback which needs to have the weatherstripping replaced on both vent window frames. I have the rubber, but it looks like a pita job. I understand it is necessary to remove the inner door panel and drop the main window. After I remove the assembly, where do I go from there?
Any help is appreciated!

Just done a couple this week, you will have to remove the door panel, then the vent window frame as a unit. I was able to do this without removing the window, however the felts were not installed(this is a good time to change them). I would tape the edges next to the frame first to prevent chips or scratches. There are a couple of bolts up top 1/2" that have to be removed, one long and one short. the next step is a little tricky. You will see a couple of allen head studs with nuts that are adjustments for the frames. remove the nuts and screw the allen bolts all the way in. You then have to move the frame part way out untill you see the allen bolts line up with a round hole in the door. When lined up, remove the allen bolt from the frame, first one then the other (an extra set of hands is good). Carefully remove the frames. When the frames are out, there is a nut and spring assembly on the bottom of the frame. Remove the nut and washers remembering the order they came off. Then the two screws that hold this bracket. The vent window glass can be removed by pressing down firmly and taking the top pin out of the frame. Change the rubber and reverse the process. Good luck.
like 67 evil said as long as everything is torn apart,,do it all,,,was in same boat myself,,didn't have alot of dough to spend at time ( still the same way) but as long as the doors blown apart,,,,new window rollers, regulator,,,latch assembly ( YES IT COSTS MONEY) but it's 1 trip into the door and you know everything is squared away and can walk away knowing everything is cool,,,,I just hate going back into the same area for something new when I could'a nailed it when I was therre before
Thanks for the advice all, it is much appreciated! I couldn't agree more about doing everything once, and doing it right. That has been my approach from the start, and it has paid off.
