Default engine swap anyone?

It may make for a bastard car, but I think the new Bugatti engine would be ok to put in a classic mustang. It comes in the new Veyron 16.4, and its 8.0L W16 (no typo) puts out a conservative 1001hp. I guess the car has been out for at least a little while now, but I just read an article about it this morning. It is in the same classof carsas the Ferarri Enzo and has a sticker price in the neighborhood of 1.5 mil, a top speed of 253mph, and 0-60 in something like 2.3 seconds all in a 4200 lb car! The Bugatti website actually has an awesome computer video of the W16, which is something I have never actually seen before. The only other car I have ever heard of to use a "W" engine is the VW Phaeton W12. I dont think I can directly link the video, so the best way to direct you to it is to start at the Bugatti home page, >>> www.bugatti-cars.de<<<. Then click on Models > Veyron 16.4 > Engineering > Engine > Legends from 1001 hp (on bottom) and click on each of the 7 videos. Oh, and cover the keyboard so you dont drool on it!

that would be cool but i dont think you would get anywhere near the top speed the Veyron on the basis of aerodynamics

one thing i would love to do if i had the money would be to take out all of the unnesacary options(AC, radio, etc...) to lighten it up and add some more power and then work on a way to cool the motor down some more via water. meth, or nitrous injection just to see the results

I saw that video a couple of weeks back. It's impressive. The car is a bit ugly though, reminds me of an Edsal.

The freakin tires alone cost $17,000! Im guessing this could pretty easily make 1200 horse, just by running cooler and adding another pound of boost. To be able to go 0-100 in 5.5 seconds with a 4700lb car is incredible! According to the 2/07 issue of road & track, its got an as tested weight of 4655lbs. My comet weighs about 1300lbs less. Wonder if I could adapt that all wheel drive to fit...

also the vw toureg used a w12 diesel i believe. There is now a more power car available than that it is even more ugly but it is cheaper and made in the uk by bristol they made fighter and bomber in the ww2 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main...08/ucar108.xml
