The GT40P heads are purported to be the best bang for the buck. Stephen will be along shortly to confirm.

A co-worker built an FF Cobra and knew nothing about sbf engines. I recommended GT-40/P heads with the 303 cam, performer-rpm manifold and 650 double pumper carb. He loves it. He is in the process of installing a Mass Air Flow fuel injection system.
I don't think you can beat them for a street engine below 6000 rpm for that amount of miney.

the 40p's flow better than the 40's - but the P's give grief unless you have headers specific for these heads because the spark plugs have different angles.

Hey booger.....just scroll down to the search engine and type in the operative word. In this case it would be GT40 heads. Give it a try, then get back and see how satisfied you are. Stephen is our resident guru regarding the GT40 heads, so if if you are still confused, PM him.

+1 on the gt40s(cobra heads) look for a 96-97 5.0(will have gt cast in the head) explorer/and the 93-95 cobra mustang motor you can use the whole motor(probably can find one complete for about 500$ with low miles) as it has a roller cam type setup factory all you need to do is add a nice performance cam and ull have a 300hp factory assembled engine or you can pirate the heads and use them on your original motor all you will need is the correct pushrods and add a nice cam also for the same power although the idle will not be as smooth since it will be a flat tappet(non roller cam) unless you go for a conversion cam which is kinda pricey. the gt40p's(1998-2001explorers will have gtp cast into the head) flow a little more out the box but have a revised spark plug angle that makes header fitment a little more of a problem, there are swap headers available though.

basically what your getting is a head better than the fabled 351w 1969-1970 swap with out the need for any bolt adapters for the head bolts.
