Default RE: roller rockers, pedestal or stud?

Yeah, pedestals bolt down onto the head, sitting on a pedestal, hence the name. They're not adjustable, preload is set either with shims under the pedestal or with longer pushrods, depending on which way you need to go. And like Decurion said, 5/16 hardware, which is ok if you stay under around 6k rpm(higher and you get deflection) and don't have really high valve spring pressures(which can potentially break the smaller hardware)

ok, someone explain to me pedestal mount v stud mount. i guess i have stud mount since i have a bolt that screws into the head holding down rocker. i guess pedestal mount is pressed into the head

yes? anyone, these rockers i am looking turned out to be pedestal mounted. i just want to make sure i dont have that before i tell him its not what i need
You need pedestal mount arms. Look at the screw that goes through the rocker and into the head. If you had stud mount arms the stud would protrude up through the arm and have a locking nut on it.

And FWIW, the 4v heads with the right cam and an 850 cfm double pumper carb will blow-away most any after-market head that cost less than $2k. If you want to make them REALLY go have someone like Bob Glidden put exhaust port plates on the head. These are aluminum plates that are attached to the exhaust after you have the top part of said exhaust port machined away. The new part is then ported to raise the exhaust port to correct the factory defect Ford put in them to fit them into the spring-tower cars. The intake out flowed a 427 Chevy head and almost equalled a HEMI but the exhaust blocked the gas from leaving...every cid of gas not out is 1 cid reduced displacement! Remember the BOSS-351? The fastest stock carburated small block (fewer than 380 cid) ever built by a factory. 0-60 in something like 5.3 (as quick as my 95 Z/28) in a pig of a car. (3800+ lbs.?)

yes the cleve has pedestal mount didnt you put in a new cam and lifter a while back?

the pedestal has a square shape on the bottom hat fits in a groove to keep it from moving around (keep you from needinga set of guideplates)

Pedestal mounts do not need guideplates, and milling heads can(though not neccesarily) lead to all sorts of problems, depending on how much is cut
