::::::::: K CODE 1966 , How many were Built :::::::
I've just run across what i believe to be a good deal , I have a chance to buy a decent 66 K code , don't know if the engine is original or not but for 6 grand it sounds pretty good . Does anybody know how many were built ? My Kevin Marti book only covers 1967 to 1973 . Any help is appreciated . thanks
Like you said, Marti can only verify 67 and up. So, with that,one way you can assure you have a K code engine is to visit the FAQ amd look under the engine section for the K code- Hi-po articles. If the 5th digit of your warranty number is a K, then you know that at least that car started out as a K code engine Mustang.
+1 but if it doesnt have the original k code engine or you cant verify the engine, its worth pretty much the same as a C code IMO.
hope it works out for you

With the letter 'K' in the vin it's worth a whole bunch more than a 'C'. Ford sales literature said about 5472 'K's' were built in all body styles.

I disagree. Besides the engine, there were several other things different on the K code then a regular C code mustang.
There are also a few K codes that didn't have vin stamped in the engine blocks and IIRC some even have the vin stamped into the transmission.

Although the two books that I just looked at both said 5,469, it's close enough.
EDIT: Didn't see your other post. You must have posted it while I was typing mine.
