Default Yo

Brand new owner of a not so brand new '69 straight six coupe A/T.

My plan is to keep this six, my goal is fuel injected + twin turbo intercooled, or maybe just one if it proves to be too much of a task. If anyone has any info that could help me get the ball rolling, let me know!

Besides little fixes here and there to improve the car overall, i plan on doin' a disc brake conversion before anything... then rear end.

As far as transmission and gear ratios i'm pretty much in the dark.

I'm trying to be as realistic about this as i can, and i'm not trying to push some outragous amount of HP, just wanna get a little boost in there with decent fuel economy, because i plan on making this a daily driver. As far as what kind of beating this 250 can take i'm not exactly sure, and any info on what internals and mods need to be done to safely turbo this car. I'm not exactly lookin' for top of the line stuff either, just quality stuff. Especially when i can pay half the price and get something almost as good.

Any info helps a whole lot, so don't underestimate my lack of knowledge.

hmm you would be the first to turbo a 6 here, your gunna need at least an 8inch ford rear axle. right now you have a 7.5, your gunna need a built transmission, not the one you got now cause its weak. this will cost alot if you buy all new parts

twin turbos are useless on a inline engine your better off runing a single. it can be done but its pricey just remember more power less mpg unless its a diesel

My "goal" is to build an inline 6, equipped with 6 VW Golf turbos, one at every exhaust port xD

i had a rb25det which is a inline 6 dohc 2.5liter turbo in a 91 nissan 240sx it was fast but the money i spent on it i could have ran a small block ford or chevy with more power. thats the reason most of us run a small block cheap to make good power

If you are going to use it as a daily driver, you would do well to keep the stock I6 setup. Twin turbo's and fuel injection on that configuration would likely prove to be very time consuming and expensive.Give it a proper tune-up and roll-on.

As far as the disc brake swap, go for it.

The I6 is a great little engine that will run like a sewing machine for years. No problem with reliability there. Just keep in mind, it is not a "Muscle Car". If you want a muscle car, then it would be cheaper to buy one from the get go instead of trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear.

Welcome to the hobby and enjoy!

actually that falcon has now hit a 10.95@124

and if you are serious about building the six check out www.fordsix.com and www.classicinlines.com and there will be an aluminum head with the ability to run fuel injection and they will be producing a turbo manifold soon

and this is also my plan an EFI, turboed, nitrous injected I6
