Default Power to Manual Steering

I would like to convert the power steering to manual steering in my 70 convertible. Has anyone tried the conversion kit in Mustangs unlimited? If so how did you make out?

I guess not...it seems to be the cheapest and quickest way to convert, but probably not the most correct way.

I've seen the kit and it looks like a reasonable method to convert. Why do you want to go to manual? I have a big block in my 69 and I want to add power steering. It's a b&%#h to steer!

Want to change over as I have owned the car about 4 months and have had nothing but problems with the power steering. Major leak in slave cylinder -replaced. Then wandering steering which I couldn't seem to get adjusted and the latest is a blown hose. Not to mention the continual leaks associated with that type of system.

I converted to manual due to the vague road feel from the power setup, which requires slop to determine which side of the cylinder to pressurize. Manual was better, but limited by the old gear box which has its own slop, curable by an new flaming river unit probably. The final answer on my quest to good steering was recent conversion to manual rack and pinion, also flaming river. Just beware of their claims of 'bolt in' and their options for headers, big block, etc..
Now the steering has no play whatsoever, awesome!
