Default remove and installing intake

Just a few questions, on getting all the water out of the intake, will just draining the raditor do the job? or is there a plug in the block that needs to be removed? and what type of sealant is best, my local parts store only sells a PTV type?
Thanks

I think I drained everything from the bottom of the radiator. Then I unhooked the lower radiator hose from the radiator to get the most I could drained. That should take care of most of the coolant in the intake. No plug on the block needs to be removed. Don't use the cork end gaskets!!! Use blue RTV sealant all the way around. Make sure to use the perfect thinkness of sealant, this helps make it leak proof.

i like the orange permatex myself (ultra copper) but pretty much any permatex / silicon will do. hes right about the end pieces, just clean both sealing surfaces with some carb or brake parts cleaner and then apply a smooth thick even bead. make sure it squishes down when you set the intake in the motor. also, use a little silicon on both sides of the intake gasket around the water jackets on the front and back of the heads on each side for good measure.

if you really feel froggy you can remove the drain plug from the bottom/side of the block..... if you can get the thing out that is.

Draining the water at the radiator should be sufficient. You actually don't need to drain the entire thing, only enough that the water level is below the lowest part of the intake. Nothing else you are able to open up will actually drain the water from inside the intake better than that. There will be a little water left in the intake, but it shouldn't be enough to worry about.

Here is a link to another thread where we are talking about replacing an intake. Including discussions about RTV (black is recommended for intakes). There are also other links within that thread to other similar discussions/pictures. https://mustangforums.com/m_3106329/tm.htm

Good luck!
