yeah, around 210. you can get up to 540-500 horsepower from a 302 if you are willing to spend $$$$. for around 4k you can probibly build a healthy 350-375 hp 302. check out coast high performance and Perfoamance automotive wharehouse (PAW), they both offer good engine kits PAW is a little cheaper. also a pare of AFR or TrickFlow heads will do wonders. don't let AFR's prices get you down, invest in a few good parts and you will be happy in the long tem. I am building a 302 with AFR 185s fors about $4500 and it should put out 420 hp. Hopefully.

... as the dyno tuner responded to me when I asked a similar question, he said, "define streetable". As it turns out, mine is built for peak horsepower at the expense of low end torque, thereby not very streetable by my standards. [] FWIW, my 302 is advertised as 375 hp.

Is $4000 your total budget, or just your motor budget? Anything over 300 hp and the rest of your drivetrain is going to start coming apart.

What kind of shape is the rest of the car in? That 4K may be better spend on brakes & steering before installing a beast motor....

I've posted this link before for others to read - it is a very easy way to make more power without breaking the bank and yet keeping it streetable. Obviously you don't have a roller cam but you can install one that is specifically made for a non-roller block like yours. Good luck. +1 on what James said about the brakes & steeringthough...
